The obviously should have tried this on the public test realm [slashdot.org]. Hope you like all the qqing about impossible to achieve achievements. Nubs. 5 digit uid indeed.
For a number of years I've wanted a slashdot greasemonkey extension called something like "slashback" which would restrict all comments to people with UID lower than your own, thus returning slashdot to the same user community that got you to sign up in the first place.
I tear up a little just thinking about it, of course not enough to actually write such a thing.
Maybe next year, Taco? And, please keep the achievements, I love them! I'll come back tomorrow and be logged in, I promise!
I was thinking it would be cool to have an achievement for reading Slashdot before accounts existed, but I would imagine there's no good way to verify that. Better yet, who found the site before it was even/. ? I think I stumbled across the old news page when Google turned up some AfterStep tweaks on your site. Or maybe it was ePlus...
I think the best that you could hope for might be the low digit count UIDs. I have the single digit UID achievement (5 points:) but there are rewards for 2, 3, 4, and 5. Once we hit 6 figures, we stop rewarding;)

Well in that case, Cmdr Taco, I repeat the question I asked here [slashdot.org]. (I would have repeated the question, but live in fear of being modded "Redundant".
Well, I suppose they could implement a johnny-come-lately award;)
But it's the 7-digiters I really feel sorry for... I mean, if you're a 6er, you could still at least be one in a million! What's in it for 7ers? A lifetime spent in derision as perpetual n00bs.

I'm guessing that once 8-digit uids come along, the achivements will get a promotion and 6ers will finally get a point. Let's see, the largest uid in this thread is 1522063, and (1522063-1e6)/(1e7-1e6) = 0.058007. Thus, we're over 5.8% of the way there! And since it's only taken 11 years to get this far, we can expect to see 8ers start showing up in, hmm, 2187 or so.:-(
I see that I miscalculated... the poor 7ers will spend THREE lifetimes derided as perpetual n00bs! It's sad, really.:(
But wait! Here's some data you didn't take into account -- we made UID 1,000,000 what, only about 2 years ago? after taking 9 years to get that far?? something like that. (I know I arrived in 1998.) So there's probably a hyperbolic curve at work here, and you can expect your 6er point in... oh, only about a lifetime and a half!
